Ready for the 24 Hour Run

Easy day at work today and now to have a nice pasta meal and make my final prep for the 24 hour race. It looks like good weather for tomorrow, but I'll feel a little cold during the night hours as the temps dip into the high 30's. I should have a good story, and hope to go further than 62 miles and maybe even 88 miles (that would be GREAT).

30 K Results

After getting in only 42 miles last week I do have one bit of good news. I was able to hit a nice time at the Desert Classic 30K, my time was good enough for 8th over-all and 3rd in my age group. I ran 2:05:34 or averaged 6:44 per mile. I felt really good and wished it was a marathon, because I would have been able to qualify for Boston and possibly broken 3 hours which is something I have not done in 11 years.

The next race is another fun race for me. On New Years Eve (9am) I will start a 24 hour journey. The race is called The ARR 24 Hour Run to the Future. The race will be held at the Victory Lane Sports complex here is a map to the race and here is a slideshow of the course. I'm looking only to run further than I have ever run before, which is 62 miles. My secondary goal is to try to beat the current Arizona Resident State Record for age 37, which currently stands at 87 miles for 24 hours. I hope I can do that, but I'm getting into unchartered territory, so I will not be so bold. I thought for sure I could complete the Javelina Jundred, but lost heart/body at 62 miles and dropped out.

I can not wait for the race; easy run today 5.3 miles in 49:30. I'm taking it easy and may not run at all tomorrow and just rest before the big race. I feel really fresh this time, and did not run for the past 5 days while I was home in California celebrating Christmas with my wife and three children!

Ready for the Desert Classic 30K tomorrow....

Well an easy day today of only 10 easy miles and 1500 yds of swimming. This week I was able to log 55 miles, and tomorrow's 30K will close out the Phoenix Area Grand Prix. I will be in reach of winning my age group, and will write about the results in my posting next week.

Going home and seeing Dad

Really excited to be heading to San Jose today. Not only will I be with my wife and three wonderful children, but my Dad is coming in for a quick visit. I haven't seen Dad in about a year. It should be a great weekend!

Busy morning, up at 2:30 am. Ran 7.6 miles and swam 1000 yds. Total miles for this week is 60.3 mi with one day off. Big race next Sunday, that should put the year long grand prix in the bag for me. Looking forward to the next few weeks that will lead up to the 24 hour race on 31 Dec 09, I should go further than I ever have in my life.

A little piece of heaven where I can rant.

What a day, and what a great place to be able to go on my little political rants. Being the only liberal Soldier in my immediate work area gives me little audience to my views. Also, it is not worth the fight with the think headed know it alls that I work with. It is funny they all worship the big business and the policies that protect the "well to do" crowd of over 500K a year, but most of them earn under (some well under) 100K. The "do nothing" crowd that worships death through killing overseas "brown" people is strong around here. Don't spend money to make your own people healthy, but spend billions to destroy things and kill people "over there". Makes me plenty sick!

Run a quick 8 mi in 1:01:11. Really good pace for this route.

The year is about to close out and fast....

Well it is fun to start another blog. I've kept several throughout the years, but somehow forgot the URL, lost the password or even forgot what service I was using. I guess somewhere out there is a lot of personnal information floating around, but luckily it is of little use or interest to anyone.

I'm going to try to find a way to mirror some sites that I really like and track my daily running from this site.

This has been a good year, which will make trying to out do it really hard.

Only ran 4.2 miles today in 34:16
